How to meditate

How to meditate

Sit.
Give yourself a little bit of formal structure: rooted base, lengthened spine, relaxed shoulders, serene face, eyes closed.
Experience the breath moving in and out of your lungs, remember the lungs are big and to breathe in such a way that your belly, your whole body in fact, expands and contracts.
Listen and wait for the space. It’s within the space and the repetition of returning that brings insight.
Do this consistently, formally each day and informally whenever you remember to.
Do this an often as possible.

You will learn the “why” for yourself. You will see the difference in your life.

Just write

Just write

I, you, we .. I’m never sure what pronoun to use. I think, truthfully the what pronoun I choose doesn’t matter, because we are a lot alike, us humans. I think the place I’m most comfortable maneuvering from is the universal. I don’t think we’re separate even though the mind wants to categorize and organize and make sense of all the differences.

So, I think when I say “I”, I mean “you”, I mean “we”, but also I recognize that what I think isn’t what you think because we all see from a slightly different place in the Universe. Therefore, I will write for myself and I will hope that at some point something will land and you will find the thoughts I type into this machine valuable in some way. But, my first priority isn’t you and what you think, my first priority is to my soul. I write from there.

Here’s to a clear 2020.

With Love,
Kat

supporting your Lymphatic + Immune system

supporting your Lymphatic + Immune system

So I have allergies, have for years and years and nothing, I mean NOTHING has released their hold on my body completely. (The Salt Room in Appleton left me symptom free for a whole hour!) This article is the start/continuation on my path to heal thyself. This year is a year committed to this healing. i want to be able to smell those gorgeous oils again!

What I’ve tried:
-nasal polyp surgery: 2 x
-otc drugs
-perscription drugs
-nasal spray
-nasal rinse
-prescription nasal spray + rinse
-weekly immunotherapy injection (allergy shots)
-antibiotics
-prednisone (this one works)
+breo + montelukast for asthma (currently a non-issue)

What I’m currently trying:
-otc drugs
-prescription nasal rinse
-weekly immunotherapy injection (allergy shots)
-doterra TriEase Blend (lem, lav, peppermint) internally
-doterra Breathe + Deep Blue aromatically
-Megan Bartelt, my acupuncturist has me on two supplements for my gut: Zytec + Spanish Black Raddish
-I’m currently cleansing (which is something I do each month for a few days at the start of my cycle)

Trigger/Cause:
-severe allergy to: dust, timothy grass, felines
+reaction to: alcohol, sugar, wheat, dairy, etc. - which I avoid most of the time

Do you have experience with any of this?

The Immune System

Innate: prevents pathogens from entering the body, the first line of defense
skin
nails
mucous membranes
tears
earwax
chemical: fatty acid + stomach acid
proteins

Adaptive: analyzes the pathogen so the body can respond + protect + destroy. also delivers nutrients to cells + removes toxins.

Side note: 80% fo the Immune System is directly connected to gut health
Immune system

The Lymphatic System

Bone Marrow: creates T-cells and creates + grows B-cells to maturation
B-cells travel via blood to destroy pathogens
T-cells attack pathogens, travel to thymus where they mature and join B-cells
T + B cells are lymphocytes that travel via the lymph

Lymph: watery substance that carries white blood cells. It circulates through the lympathic system and picks up unwanted fats and bacteria, etc. from tissues.

Nutrition + Detoxification

Nutrition is key to a healthy to a healthy immune system.
Detoxification is also important as it promotes the body’s natural defenses
Nutrition strengthens, detoxification eliminates.

Allergies

Allergies are an inflammatory response (hence why prednisone works so well) that are either respiratory or systemic. A substance that causes a reaction, is an allergen. Most reactions are acquired. A true reaction is immediate and the immune response triggers anti-bodies + over-activates specific white blood cells. When contact is made with the allergen, the immune system’s reaction is typically to inflame skin, sinuses, airway or digestive system. This reaction is called inflammatory response.

Treatment

Traditional treatment includes: avoiding, administering steroids (prednisone), antihistamines, and/or decongestants to reduce symptoms.

Anti-allergenic: geranium, helichrysum
Anti-histamine: lavender, melissa, roman chamomile
Steroidal: basil, rosemary

Internal: drop in water, in capsule form, or under the tongue
Aromatic: diffuse or apply to chest, clothing, bedding, or palms of hands to inhale
Topical: apply to forehead, cheeks, chest, bottoms of the feet

Aromatouch Technique
Step 1: Balance: Grounding Blend - heart area in circles
Step 2: Lavender - alternating palm slide, 5 zone activation (farthest from spine), auricular stress reduction (earlobes)
Step 3: Melaleuca - alternating palm slide, 5 zone activation
Step 4: OnGuard: Protective Blend - alternating palm slide, 5 zone activation, thumb walk tissue pull (thumbs in circular motion, up spine)

Supportive oils

+ other Essential Oils for Immune Support

Digestive System

Consists of the GI (gastrointestinal) tract - several connecting organs along a 30ft pathway responsible for taking in + breaking down food, assimilating nutrients and eliminating waste.
mouth: chewing
esophagus: swallowing
stomach: mixing food with digestive acid
small intestine: further mixing food with the digestive acids of pancreas + liver + gall bladder
large intestine: absorbing nutrients + water, creating stool
rectum: storing + eliminating waste

The digestive system works with the immune system. Like the innate immune system, the GI tract is exposed to many pathogen including bacteria + viruses. Without the immune system, the long, dark, moist GI tract would be ideal of pathogenic colonization. The GI system breaks down bacteria + pathogens.

Second Brain
Embedded in the gut are over 100 million neurons (more than exist in the spinal column). This mesh-like network is know as the enteric system or "Second Brain” and works with the nervous system to oversee digestion. Emotional health and gut health are connected. Stress, anxiety and digestion are all interconnected.
